UCU will join strike action and protests on 10 May

UCU’s national executive committee have voted to take strike action on Thursday 10 May alongside other unions in an ongoing row over changes to members’ pension schemes.

UCU members in England and Wales who are part of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme will join civil service union PCS and parts of the Unite union on strike.

London members called to take 28 March strike action

On Friday, the NEC agreed that the union’s London TPS members would take action alongside  colleagues from NUT on 28 March. UCU’s public sector pensions consultative ballots have now closed. The results are being discussed by a special meeting of the National Executive Committee on 16 March:

NEC votes to ballot over TPS

UCU’s NEC today voted to take strike action on 28 March subject to a consultative ballot. The union will campaign for members to reject the government’s proposals and support industrial action starting with a strike on 28 March.

10 MAY: STRIKE

Your pension is under attack: the government wants to change the Teachers' Pension Scheme in a way which will massively reduce the value of your pension in retirement or if you leave education.

UCU members in TPS in England and Wales are being called to take further strike action alongside PCS and parts of the Unite on 10 May.

Members not directly involved ion the action are asked to please show solidarity with colleagues by attending any local rallies or events if you can.
